New Makeup New Year
Store with Christmas decorations and the beginning of a new year comes the desire to clean and organize. If you feel the urge to tidy up your space closet, kitchen, living room, why not add your makeup kit to the list?
Is the drawer your makeup or cosmetics bag stuffed with too many or most up to date? Are there makeup is that you do not, but keep "just in case"?
It's time to let go of clutter and have only what you need. It can not be an expiration date on each package, but products must not be kept. Here is a list of twelve makeup and their duration. It will give you a good idea of what you might want to ditch:
1. EQ: These last up to 12 months.
2. Powders is about two years.
3. cream and gel cleansers: One year.
4. Eyeliner Eye: Up to three years.
5. Eye Shadow: Lasts up to three years.
6. Brushes: Wash them every two months mild soap. But if the bristles are frayed or falling out, throwing them away.
7. Sponges: Wash weekly and discard per month.
8. Foundations: Foundations Water-based can last up to 12 months, based on oil can take up to 18 months. If a liquid foundation remains separated after you shake it, it did - throw it out!
9. Lipstick: one to three years. However, if it smells rancid, throw it out. You will be able to say whether there is something vaguely red chemicals on your second favorite. Moreover, if sweating or dry texture to it, throw it!
10. Mascara: This product does not have a long life. Discard them after three months. And remember: Do not pump the wand in and out because you will expose the mascara air and dry faster.
11. Nail polish: It can take up to 12 months, depending on quality. As with the foundation, where the varnish stays separated after shaking, it is time to abandon it. TIP: When new rub a little Vaseline on the inside rim to keep it clean and easy to seal.
12. Fragrance: Once opened, the scent is fresh from one to eight years (but eight years is a long shot.) Heavy Orientals have a shelf life longer than the light, citrus scent. If you have a new scent during the holidays that you just love, but you're still using your old magazine in its new bottle packaging in the refrigerator and it'll keep longer.
13. Bath and Body: The life of your bath and body products are actually shorter with superior products. This is because they use natural oils and butters instead of petroleum byproducts. However, if they are premium brands, or simply a mineral oil and glycerin mix, bath and body have a limited lifespan.
What a great addition to your New Year resolutions! This week, mix all the makeup you have not worn old last year and early 2011 with a clean and well organized makeup drawer. And one more tip: Use a permanent marker to make your new DATE when you add it to your drawer. A little obsessive compulsive, perhaps, but will eliminate the guess work when you're trying to remember how long it has been since you bought this mascara.
