Discover Mount Abu - Rajasthan Hill Station
The only hill station in Rajasthan , Mount Abu huddles among the rocks of a granite table-1220 m mountain in southwest end of the Aravalli hills. It is built around a lake and is surrounded by wooded hills. According to legend, the place gets its name Arbuda, a snake descended on the scene to rescue Shiva's bull, Nandi. In addition to having all the functionality of a pleasant resort Hill, Mount Abu is also well known for the famous temples Dilwara and many other archaeological remains. There are interesting walks and picnic, romantic royal retreats of the past several families of Rajputana and some relics of bygone period Raj. Picturesque landscapes are huge blocks of rocks with strange shapes, an array of coniferous trees, flowering shrubs, lovely lakes and the cool climate much in contrast to the arid environs of the state.
Prime Attractions of Mount Abu
Government Museum - Mount Abu: The museum was created in 1962 at the premises of Raj Bhawan to preserve the archaeological wealth of the region.
Summer Festival: The Summer Festival is held each year in Aashadh (June). The steep rocks, tranquil lakes, picturesque locations and the pleasant climate of Mount Abu make it an ideal place for the festival.
Dilwara Temples
This complex consists of five marble Jain temples is one of the finest in Rajasthan, just to brave the queues and ferocious guards. These beautifully carved temples built between 11th and 13th century AD are sheer elegance in marble, dedicated to Tirthankara Jain. The Vimal Vasahi Temple is the oldest of them, dedicated to the first Tirthankar. Built in 1031 AD (by Vimal Shah-a merchant and representative of the rule of Gujarat at the time), He is a superb example of temple architecture.
Gaumukh Temple
Dedicated to Rama, this small temple (the cow's mouth) focuses on a spring gushing from the mouth of a marble cow. In the Hindu creation myth, the world is formed by a cow, licking salt, the source Ganges has the same name. What is said to be the site of fire rituals of "agnikund old. It is 4 km south of Mount Abu. A free and open access, 700 steps down very steep.

Nakki Talava
This holiday resort of Mount Abu, is virtually in the heart of the city. This sparkling blue artificial lake is said to have been drawn from the earth by the gods, using their fingernails ('nakh' means nail). Close is the 14th century Raghunath Temple.On the west end of downtown, Nakki Lake Road circles the lake. Rowing boats are available for hire the jetty by Gandhi Park.
Viewpoints
Several points on the edge of the plateau offer spectacular views across the plains. The best are Honeymoon Point (Anadra Point) and Sunset Point, where hundreds of people gather to watch the sunset every evening in a carnival atmosphere pony rides and souvenir sellers. Baylay's Walk is a pleasant 5 km route Nakki Lake to Sunset Point. Honeymoon Point, 2.5 km north-west Ganesh Road, Sunset Point, 2 km south of Sunset Point Road. A free and open access.

Adhar Devi Temple

This ancient temple dedicated to snake goddess, Arbuda is carved from a huge rock .. Arbuda is the patron of the city, which formed the mountain to save the sacred cow, Nandi from drowning in an abyss. The idol of marble, painted black, mounted on a solid gold tiger, is claimed about 5,000 years. Free access during daylight hours the day.
Guru Shikhar

The highest peak of Mount Abu (1722 meters above sea level) allows a bird's eye view the idyllic landscape of Mt Abu. A small Shiva shrine and a temple of Dattatreya standing on the Shikhar worth a visit.
Trevor Tank

Named after the British engineer who built it, Trevor's Tank is a delight for birdwatchers with densely wooded hills are a haven for pigeons, peacocks and partridges.

The nearest airport to Mount Abu is Udaipur Maharana Pratap Airport, Dabok (Udaipur) 207 km. One can hire a taxi to go to Mount Abu.
By train
The nearest railway station is Abu Road (29-km) situated on the road Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Ajmer-Jaipur-Delhi. From Abu Road you can take a taxi, jeep or bus to Mount Abu.
By road
Ahmedabad is 222-km Palanpur. Jodhpur is 235-km Sirohi and Pali. Udaipur is 156 km via Pidware. (Journey on this route is advisable only during the day). Jaipur is 509-km Pali-Ajmer. It is connected to all major cities northern and western India
