These are all derivatives of a compound that was discovered in 1859 in Titusville, Pa.  This compound was discovered on what were then some of the countries first oil rigs, and was disliked by the workers that ran the rigs because the compound caused them to malfunction.

The process of distillation that turned this compound into lighter, thinner oils for use as dry skin remedies was patented a few years later.  This first version of this lighter oil was patented under the name Vaseline, and was claimed to be an ointment that treat just about any skin problem. It only took a few decades before everyone realized that this material was not fit for moisturizing your skin.

This petroleum jelly has been thinned down even further into the dry skin therapy moisturizers that we see today, but they don’t really work any more effectively. All three of these compounds will clog your pores, form a greasy film on your skin which traps dirt and grime, interfere with your exfoliation process, and eventually shut down sebum production so that your skin becomes unnaturally dry.

Now you can see why the clear choice has to be dry skin remedies featuring plant based oils. There are even some all natural moisturizers available that contain proteins capable of greatly increasing the amount of collagen and elastin that your body produces. Not only will you have skin that is moist and soft, but that is also firm and wrinkle free.
