Red Blue

In the evening, I see what appears to be a planet or a star that shines red, blue, green and yellow. What is it?

I live in Surprise AZ. After dark in the far north west, I see what I guess is a planet or a star. It shines blue red, green and yellow. My B / F thinks her something else. Can anyone tell me what is it? I guess I should add that when we first he saw it was low in the sky, now its about half way.He also said he saw the sky in motion, but I've seen in one place. Thank you for your help!

I'm going to guess that it is Arcturus. Diffraction of light as it passes through in-depth coverage of the air (because it is seen at a low angle), causes color changes. To make sure that it is Arcturus, find the "Big Dipper" follow the curve of the "handle" to the end and beyond. It is "Arc to Arcturus," as the saying goes, (the curved line then continues to "Speed to Spica "if it is visible). (Spica is too low to see right now). Another star that shows low color flicker is Antares, (in south in the summer sky, but maybe before that date), it is the "eye" of the constellation "Scorpio" and would visible to your latitude on the dates right. (It is due south at about 19 hours right now so probably gets too low total darkness. Viewing just west of the southern tip on your horizon, when it's dark and you could see or the curve of the "tail" above the horizon to the left of the South Point)
