* Take a close look at the brushwork and see how the artist has employed thin transparent paint glazes
* Closely study areas where thick paint has been applied
* Look where texture has been utilized

Close study of any master artist, such as Picasso or Salvador Dali could help to improve the quality of your artwork...

* See the variety of colors used
* Look at how the artist has softened color by adding white to the mix
* Consider how a thin color wash can change color tone

It is important to take time understanding what makes an artwork worth looking at...

* It might be the picture's design
* The painting could show activity and movement
* There might be shapes that add a sense of balance

Persist by creating your best artwork... concentrate upon learning from the attributes of the Masters. Even Master Artists, like JMW Turner and Monet, took time to study their teachers and rivals. Undoubtedly, what they learned added to their artistic abilities and empowered them to produce priceless masterpieces of Art.
