Discounted Cosmetics A Nasty Shock!
You have heard the horror stories of how people experience side effects from cosmetics and that's undoubtedly true. Sensitive skin does bring a level of anxiety when using cosmetics. Less of a problem if it is nail polish and lipstick, but disconcerting if it is foundation and those products directly in contact with sensitive skin.
Recently we have been listening to a lot of people and a certain picture has emerged. The truth is you can look great on discounted cosmetics. I was talking to a woman who meets a lot of girls in her profession and as usual the subject of cosmetics, particularly nail polish, lipstick and in this case mascara was the topic of conversation. She happened to comment on how well her mascara looked and presumed that it must be an expensive brand. To her amazement it turned out not to be and it came from a well know budget brand.
The nasty shock about discounted cosmetics is that perhaps we have been duped into believing that more expensive is better. Certainly today it is difficult to tell what nail polish, lipstick, or in this case, what brand of mascara people are wearing. It has more to do with how it is applied that what is applied. The truth is you can look a million pound and have paid less than £2 pounds for a particular product. Whilst many of the current budget cosmetic companies have aimed their products at the teenage market, flooding that market has meant that the quality of those cosmetics has been consistently improved. Two brands that we like in particular are the Laval and La Femme range of products. Not only do these companies offer an extensive range of choice and colours but in relation to discounted cosmetics a price that is difficult to match.
There is a current belief that expensive cosmetics reduce the potential for skin irritation. The reality is that any product on the market can cause problems and whilst all companies seek to reduce the potential for that happening the reality is that it cannot be eliminated. From anecdotal evidence however, it perhaps presumptuous to claim that purchasing a more expensive cosmetic reduces the potential of irritation. Recently we had a customer write to us the following observation.
‘This is the BEST foundation ever! I've tried all sorts of other stuff, from £2 to £15, and nothing comes close to this one for my very pale, very sensitive skin! It's got good coverage and staying power (lasts pretty well through a 10 hour night shift!), plus I've noticed an improvement in my skin condition with regular use, particularly in winter when it needs extra protection. It's rare for me to find a foundation which ticks all the boxes colour and cover wise, as well as not causing me to breakout in spots or an allergic reaction, so I hope they never stop making it! This is a great price too and would be a great shade if you want a gothy look!(This product was from the Laval Range)
