Clean and store your guitar
Not only is your guitar a tool for your personal expression, but if properly supported, can also represent an investment that will increase in value over time. One of the best ways to keep your guitar clean and safe is to store it in a case especially when it is not played. Moving the guitar from place to place can also end up being a perilous journey, it only makes sense to take all precautions reasonable to ensure that your guitar is properly protected. Not only physical damage but also against the dangers that come with a change in climate or environment.
Different parts of the guitar can be cleaned with many different agents. Most guitars more modern finish cellulose and some other types of synthetic varnish. For this reason, they can usually be cleaned with care, using almost any ordinary household sprays or creams. One of the best methods and most affective for cleaning, is to use a dry, lint-free fall through the ropes and the button, then drag the full length of the strings bridge all the way to the nut.
Many Players prefer to use chain cleaning fluids, however, keep in mind that these fluids should not be used for cleaning strings nylon.
steel string should ideally be wiped and cleaned every time you've finished playing. It will prevent the salt which is produced naturally by the skin of the fingers as they sweat, react with the strings, creating rust.
Fretboard with a synthetic varnish can be cleaned as you would the body. There are a number of guitarists who have oiled ebony or rosewood fingerboards. It is good to clean thoroughly whenever the strings are changed.
One cool thing is here to apply a little lemon oil to wood, and leave it for about five minutes. After five minutes, then it can be cleaned with a dry cloth. Not only does it clean the key and keep the feeling, but also lemon oil nourishes wood, preventing it from drying out.
It is very common for dirt to begin building your fingers along the edges of the frets. This can be removed fairly easily using a slightly pointed object like a toothpick or even a nail file. Any dirt should come off fairly easily, so please try not to scratch too hard, because the handle could be damaged.
Keep all metal parts guitar, like the bridge pickup, tremolo bar, and heads of cleaning machines is probably the most effective way to prevent rust or other dulling effects of rearing their ugly head. Any type of household, cleaning agent chromium should suffice very well for most of these items.
Switch cleaning sprays may be used on micro or switches of polarity, to prevent sticking or clicking. It can also be used when cleaning the volume control or tone, to help maintain their proper functioning.
If you do not plan to use your guitar for a while, it might be a good idea to pay some attention to how the guitar will be stored. Furthermore protection of the instrument of any kind of bumps and scrapes, one of the most important considerations to take into account variations in temperature are and humidity that can cope with your instrument.
It is even more important for delicate acoustic instruments, where any type of change sudden change in climate can share, to distort the wood, cracks in the finish or cause damage to the glue joints. For this reason alone, the guitars should not be kept in cellars, attics, or near any source of radiator or hot water pipe.
This is always a good idea to keep guitar packed in a sturdy, but again there are many musicians who prefer to suspend their instruments on the walls. Although this is not the optimal recommendation because it will probably suffer from dust accumulation.
But if that's what you have decided, and I must say it's very convenient, just buy specially designed fixtures and accessories. One last thing, please do not hang your guitar in all types of direct sunlight. This could damage the body and cause color to fade and the wood to warp.
Before storing your guitar, always give it a thorough cleaning to prevent tarnish or rust from metal parts. Detune the strings so, it will relieve tension and stress that is placed on the joints between the neck and body.
