Make small business marketing materials, and personal branding you plan to vibrate your spine? Or, do you make excuses about how they look, an apology because they are outdated, or do you tell others that you are "working on getting new printed" soon?
A Story of a "perfectly Polished "Woman ... Almost
A year ago, I met a woman at a business conference at a local college. She went me ask a few questions about small business coaching services I offer. She was a very attractive woman, tall, with classic features refined, and nails perfectly manicured and polished. She wore a designer well-cut suit, grabbed a high-end handbag, footwear and wearing "die for ". I thought, 'Wow, this woman is a winning image, "and I felt a little embarrassed because I knew I was not both "Putting together" that day.
Then, as she turned to walk, I spotted ...
... A plastic clip hair tortoiseshell.
His dark, shiny hair was pulled back by a clip that looked like it had layers of hair care product residue on it. A corner piece of the clip was actually broken. Any anticipated positive woman was immediately tarnished by the blow of neglect about his hair accessory.
I assumed that the woman must have been in a hurry this morning and seized the first hairpin, it could get its hands on ... because she looked so fabulous in all others.
Recently, I saw her conference to another small business, and she looked fabulous as before. We talked for a few moments, and as she turned to foot, he was there again ...
... The dirty, broken hair clip tortoiseshell.
I then realized that she had no idea of the hair clip has had a negative effect on its appearance as a whole. She must have thought nobody would notice, or, because the rest of her outfit was so polite, it would not matter.
Wrong.
Details Matter
My point here is not to ridicule this woman: but how can a little neglect can ruin the look of your entire marketing package for small businesses, and guess what ... he'll sell it! (The same thing applies for men, too.)
Seeing her made me realize that I had a few "blunders marketing package" of my own --- especially when it is come to the personal branding that I was planning.
I realized that if I wanted to project being a polite, knowledgeable professional, and be on track to grow a company millions of dollars, I'd better start looking like one!
That's what made me decide it was time to redefine and update my personal branding, professional photos taken, create a new website for my small business marketing and training firms, and invest in a few pieces of higher quality clothes for my wardrobe.
Even eBook covers designed by professionals is part of my "marketing makeover" plan. (My new personal brand image has not yet been made public, but will be in fall 2008.)
I know my attitude and actions I am going to pay much. When I started the Internet business segment of my small business marketing and business coaching, I just "play around". Now I decided it is time to take seriously.
Are you just play? Or, do you want to be taken seriously by your target audience. Would you differentiate yourself from your competitors and sell more products and services?
Assess the factor * * Tingle of your marketing materials
Take about 30 minutes this week and objectively assess what personal branding you are planning, inventory and quality of all your marketing materials small companies. This includes your website, photos of yourself, business cards, brochures, product packaging, business forms - anything that your prospects or customers see. They seem consistent, professional, updated, and polished? However, some of them do look like your child to eight years, has designed? Did they make your spine tingle in a good way? If one of them give you shame, they are your "mistakes marketing package," and rework need!
Make a list:
1. What marketing materials must rework.
2. What will you do about them and when.
3. Identify people who can help you solve them.
I recommend that you confide in and seek design work Practise on your marketing materials, or developing your personal branding.
If you do, you'll be confident in the image small business marketing plan that you and you will see your business increase sales, as well.
