I love French wine and food - a Beaujolais Nouveau 2007 Dated
This article examines a very successful marketing campaign - Beaujolais Nouveau, French red wine that arrives just in time for Thanksgiving. This wine is offered for sale at one minute past midnight on the third Thursday November. In the next 24 hours over a million cases sold. During the coming year, consumers worldwide will buy more 65 million bottles. About 4 million bottles exported to the United States, and seven million in Japan and Germany. On the downside million bottles of Production last year was destroyed before the publication of the 2007 harvest.
New wines are usually colored bright red or purple. They tend to be fruity, tasting of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, banana, grapes freshly pressed and, depending on the grape used, the method production, and the area in which the grapes are grown. Critics talk of bubble gum, lollipops, nail polish, and jello. Many feel that the tastes new wine grape juice with alcohol. One thing is certain, if you are not happy with a given new wine, not far from the store to try again in two years. It will not improve with time.
Let me present a few mouthfuls information before considering a the best wines of Beaujolais Nouveau. This wine comes from the Beaujolais region of southeastern France and is made from the Gamay grape, which was expelled from the famous, neighboring Burgundy in 1395. By law, all grapes in the Beaujolais region must be hand picked. Champagne is the only other French region which forbids mechanical harvesting. While Beaujolais Nouveau was regulated in 1938, it derives from the ancient times where a somewhat similar wine was produced for the slaves. History does not record their reaction. Take a look at mine.
Before considering Beaujolais Nouveau and imported cheeses that we purchased at a local wine store and a local imported food store, here are some suggestions what to eat with this wine: Start with Frisee Salad with bacon (Bacon Curly lettuce salad). For your second course savor Pot au Feu (short ribs with bone marrow). And as dessert indulge yourself with Poached Pears with Honey (Pears poached in honey).
OUR WINE REVIEW POLICY All wines that we taste and review are sold at retail prices.
Beaujolais Nouveau wine Reviewed Mommessin 2007 12% about $ 13.50 I bought this bottle a few days only after the release of the 2007 Beaujolais Nouveau (November 15, 2007) an offer more expensive French and Italian Vino Novello (new wine) a quite similar Italian Renditions. In what I hope is not a policy change my supplier does not include marketing materials. Here are the comments of another Supplier: White and pleasant "bright cherry and berry flavors with enough tannins to stand up to richer food. And now, my reactions.
My first pairing of this wine in question prepackaged eggplant Parmesan that I added grated Parmesan much. The first thing that struck me was the taste of chewing gum, more or less dominating everything else. The wine is pleasant, but not much. I can not help thinking about 1970 parts in which people were younger and the wine was close accordingly.
The next meal consisted of beef stew cooked slowly with potatoes. The wine had some black cherry and flavors of apple, bubble gum, but was still present, although not dominant. This Beaujolais Nouveau was mildly acidic with an average length.
Then I tried this wine with fried slices of breaded chicken breast, Potato pancakes, salad and Turkish. The wine seems a bit rounder than before. My lack of comment is due at least in part to the rarity of the presence of wine. As it is almost not there.
The first was a German Emmentaler cheese (Swiss type) begins to age. The wine was quite thin, but some fruit was able to poke out and guess what, there was no bubble gum to all. Change can occur when the wine aged in bottle for a few days. One could make a somewhat scientific experiment to test this hypothesis with another bottle of this wine. Not a chance. Then I continued with a French goat cheese that has become more than necessary. The cheese made the wine almost tasteless. The wine was submerged. I was underwhelmed.
final verdict. Can you guess? Once again I've been had. For that price you should be able to get something halfway decent. And yet, as long as your servant at a time and Beaujolais Nouveau are around, I'll be tasting.
