It is time to prepare for a spring fishery

Here Mars! This is usually when I finish my ice fishing. It is time to think about preparing for the spring fishery. Do you need a new line? Maybe you need a new pole or coil? The sales usually start during this month for all devices you need. Maybe you would like to find a new place. Choose a place you have not tried it yet and plan a weekend to check.

My brothers and friends and I use the winter months to plan a new journey for spring. This year we will spend a few days at Brooks for the elusive trout. I found a couple while in the backcountry looking to sign new deer. Can not wait to return a fly in them and see what is there.

Time cleaning your tackle box

Meanwhile it might as well get the old tackle box and give it a good cleaning. The first thing to do is through away all the junk (old line and candy wrappers).

Now let's get serious. What is your main goal this year? I use two tackle kits, a box for fishing boat and a bag for canoeing and fishing in streams. This allows me to carry a lighter load and remove the gear that I did not need.

It is also a good way to gear sort you do not really need. A good hook sharpener is very handy in most any kit. Keep one handy at all times. There no sense to lose a fish on a hook dull.

The next thing you should look at is the condition of your lures. They are rubbed or scratched? nail polish up paint or even (check with your wife or daughters first) will do. Brush up on the band shortly after they are dry and you're all set for another year. You can read the treble this time. It is now time to replace bent and rusty hooks.

When you arrive at these plastics, whether tubes or worms, be sure to take all that began to stick to the box. They will certainly cause you trouble later.
