Discover China's Legacy Expat famous Museum of Xiamen Overseas Chinese
Founded in 1956 and opened to the public three years later, the Chinese Overseas Museum in Xiamen is a curious institution of national importance. Documenting and tracing the evolution of progress and contributions made by overseas Chinese residents, this unique museum pays tribute to their achievements, while examining their impact on Chinese culture over the years. Housing more than 7000 pieces of the complex is 50,000 square meters and service the fruit of the famous Tan Kah-kee expatriates who returned home after several years of success abroad. Serve as its founder and chairman, Kah-Kee believes it is imperative that the public is aware of science and Culture change in a society to better understand the social consequences of immigration.
Located at the base of Fengchao Hill, the building main museum occupies 4,000 square meters and takes the form of a palace structure. Aquatic plants and objects in more than 5000 documents photographs and other matter relating to the history of Chinese expat communities are also available at the museum which also houses the Xinjiang mummies, Mongolia folk relics and beautiful pottery glazed lights.
