Notes from readings
- Pancreas either produces insufficient amounts of cells producing insulin or the body becomes resistant to the effects of the hormone.
- Type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
- Although dietary measures are also important, it must be treated with insulin injections. Approximately 60,000 people in the United Kingdom have this type of diabetes.
- The pancreas continues to secrete insulin but the body's cells become resistant to its effects.
- Diabetes mainly affects people over 40 years and is more common in overweight people.
- The condition can be treated by dietary measures only.
- Diabetes mellitus sometimes can be done during pregnancy. This is called gestational diabetes and is usually treated with insulin to maintain the health of mother and baby.
- Type 1 diabetes is usually caused by an abnormal reaction in which the immune system destroys cells that secrete insulin in the pancreas.
- Diabetes Type 2 are less well understood, but genetics and obesity are important factors.
- The symptoms of type 2 may not be obvious or may go unnoticed until a routine medical examination in place. The main symptoms of these two forms may include:
- Excessive urination
- The thirst and dry mouth
- Lack of sleep due to the need to urinate at night.
- Lack of energy
- Blurry vision
- Weight loss
The symptoms of type 2 may go unnoticed until routine medical check up.

Type 2 diabetes accounts for more than 85% of all cases of
diabetes in developed countries and almost all cases in developing
countries. It seems to be the epidemic (affecting a large
and the increasing proportion of the population) in many parts
the world, and represents a serious and growing global
health problem, mainly because of obesity has increased
aging population, increasing urbanization and a more sedentary

-The incidence of type 2 diabetes in particular is expected

more Westernized in terms of availability of health care and
modernization of existing resources, and the following
improvements essential for monitoring diabetes and
screening. Growth is expected to be largest in Asia and
Africa, where diabetes could be 2-3 times more frequent

with 62% in 1995
-Type 2 diabetes suggests a need for further

People with diabetes Type 1, and increasingly those

Paraphrase
The organization uses glucose as energy to do work and if it fails due to insufficient insulin (which is essential for the absorption glucose) or because the body's cells become resistant to the effects of the hormone and then we end up with diabetes called non-state sound.
Summary
Dr Stoppard says that "the blood glucose is the main energy source for cells of the body. Its absorption is activated by the pancreas, which produces insulin. Among people with diabetes mellitus, an accumulation of toxic byproducts like acetone with a smell of pear decline, in the body occurs. This is caused by the use of alternative sources of energy than glucose. Thus the glucose accumulates used in blood and urine, causing high levels of sugar in the blood. 1 of 10 dependent diabetes self-administered insulin injections and the rest to take oral medication and attention to their diet. These treatments are necessary to prevent the symptoms of high blood sugar levels as frequent urination, thirst, weight loss and complications leading to peripheral nerve disorders that can affect the eyes, kidneys, the cardiovascular system. The weakening of the immune system can also cause infections like cystitis. "

Introduction
Diabetes mellitus develops in epidemic proportions in today's world with 5 to 10% of world population affected. This disease is defined by Dr Stoppard, "As the body's inability to use glucose for energy because of insufficient quantities or loss of sensitivity to insulin, a hormone. "This means that the body uses glucose to perform work and if it fails because of the amount enough insulin or because the body's cells become resistant to the effects of the hormone, then we end up with non-health state called diabetes.
There are two types of diabetes:
1 - Type 1, which is caused by the abnormal reaction in which the immune system destroys insulin secreting cells of the pancreas. It is more common in children.
2 - Type 2 causes are less well understood. However, genetics and overweight are important factors.
Causes
Type 1 diabetes is usually caused by certain viral diseases that affect the immune system the child if the genetic factor of a parent who suffers from type 1 diabetes may have some effect, but most children who develop Type 1 diabetes have no relatives with diabetes. Regarding type 2 diabetes, it is the increase in food intake which leads to overweight and obesity and the life of a sedentary lifestyle and affects mostly adults.
Symptoms
Both types of diabetes have the same symptoms where there is excessive urination and thirst are dry mouth, but also for the lack sleep at night because of the need to go to the bathroom. This state is accompanied by a lack of energy; blur vision and rapid weight loss, abdominal pain, deep breathing and breath odor of acetone may also consist of symptoms of diabetes.
Treatment
Although type 1 diabetes have to undergo the burden of injecting insulin, self-monitoring and care of their supply insulin and equipment, if the type 2 diabetes have the need to control their blood sugar, blood pressure and their blood lipids these can be done by medications, diet and exercise, but sometimes in addition to type 2 diabetes must take insulin injections that type 1 diabetes with all the drawbacks associated with it. As for the treatment of insulin by Dr. Stoppard states that "the blood glucose is the main energy source body cells. Its absorption is activated by the pancreas which produces insulin. Among people with diabetes mellitus, an accumulation of by-products toxic, such as acetone with a smell of pear decline in the body occurs. This is caused by the use of alternative energy sources as glucose. Thus the rate of glucose used accumulates in the blood and urine, causing high levels of sugar in the blood. 1 of 10 dependent diabetes Self-administered insulin injections and the rest to take oral medication and attention to their diet. These treatments are essential to prevent the symptoms of high blood levels of sugar, as is often the passage of urine, thirst and weight loss and complications resulting to peripheral nerve disorders that can affect the eyes, kidneys, cardiovascular system. The weakening of the immune system can also cause infections like cystitis. "
Therefore, no complete cure of diabetes exist, for it is a chronic disease, but it can be controlled so as not to cause greater damage to the body is affected. For a healthy diet with an emphasis particular to avoid excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Special care should be taken with the feet and eyes. Medical examination and measurement of blood pressure should be steady. Although sport must be practiced excessively vigorous exercise should be avoided.
Short and long term effects
If left unattended diabetes mellitus can lead to complications in the short term and long term. In cases of Type 1 neglect of treatment may cause nausea and vomiting with abdominal pain and deep breathing, all in one breath odor of acetone is observed. If not treated promptly, enter a state of confusion where dehydration can lead to coma and death. As for type 2 diabetes, if left untreated, as is often the cause long term illnesses such as cardiovascular disease product that can be in a race. These are consequences of hypertension and high cholesterol in the blood. There is an increased risk cataracts in the eye and symptoms of vertigo at rest and poor circulation because of nerve damage can lead to ulcers and gangrene.
Conclusion
In conclusion we can say that diabetes mellitus is a disease that require those who suffer from it to adopt a healthy lifestyle in order to limit the damage that the disease can cause the body and avoid shortening its life.
